THE Ministry of Transportation accelerates the international status of Komodo Airport, Labuan Bajo after it is officially managed by a private party, namely PT Cinta Airport Flores through a Government and Business Entity scheme.
According to the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said we agreed that the airport would initially be made international in 2021, we agreed together (with the Tourism Ministry) if we had done it earlier, namely this June.
The purpose of the acceleration, said the Minister of Transportation, was in line with the acceleration of operations by PT CAF which is a national private consortium, namely PT Cardig Aero Services Tbk (CASS) and Singaporean foreign private CAI (Changi).
“It should be early next year, but we advance it to May 2020. In addition, with the acceleration of the status of international airports, investors can immediately develop airports that support super priority tourist destinations,” he said.
He added, I expect investors to do it seriously and I ask for support from Tourism Minister to make a certain effort both in the promotion and decoration of the original color of Labuan Bajo.
The Labuan Bajo Komodo Airport project includes the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Ministry of Transportation as the Person in Charge of the Cooperation Project with PT Cinta Airport Flores as the Implementing Business Entity which is a consortium of PT Cardig Aero Services Tbk, Changi Airport International PTE LTD, and Changi Airports Mena PTE LTD, implemented by the Director General of Civil Aviation at the Ministry of Transportation with the Managing Director of PT Cinta Airport Flores.
