AUTHORITY of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, recorded during the first two months of 2020 serving 3,681,385 passengers and 25,366 airplane movements.
According to General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, Herry A.Y. Sikado, said that when compared with records in the same period in 2019 with a record of 3,603,624 passengers served, then there was a growth of 2.2%.
“For the record of aircraft movements, he explained there was a growth of 4.2% during the January-February 2020 period, with a ratio of 25,366 movements in 2020 compared to a record of 24,352 pepper movements in the same period in 2019,” he said.
He added, when broken down into more detailed records per month, in January, we recorded passenger growth of 14% and 8% for aircraft movements. As for the statistical records in February alone, there was a decrease of minus 12 percent for passenger movements.
Herry explained, during the first two months of 2020, the number of passengers on domestic routes served was 1,598,242 passengers, growing 2.5% compared to the number of passengers on domestic routes in the same period in 2019.
As for international route passengers, there was a growth of 1.9% with a ratio of 2,083,143 passengers in 2020 compared to 2,044,676 passengers in 2019.
Especially for the record in February 2020, the airport recorded a decrease in the number of passengers on each route. On the domestic route, during February 2020, it served 724,898 passengers, while in February last year there were 749,913 passengers served, down as many as 25 thousand passengers or minus 3.5%.
While on the international route, the airport served as many as 833,855 passengers during February this year, down 19.5% compared to the record of 996,483 passengers on international routes during February 2019.
“The sharp decline in the number of passengers, especially on international routes, is largely influenced by the situation of the spread of the corona virus in many countries in the world,” he said.
