AFTER the cancellation of two Geneva Motor Show and New York Motor Show automotive shows, this time the Detroit Auto Show was also postponed due to a new corona virus pandemic (COVID-19), Reuters reported.
This event is the third large-scale car show that was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Previously, the organizer shifted the show to June 2020 from January this year, to reduce the cost of car makers.
The committee has said that the automatic event will be held in June 2021, not this year, because the venue of the exhibition center is set to become a temporary field hospital for the Federal Emergency Management Administration.
Supporting the move, Ford Motor Company said in a statement that it fully supported the decision of the NAIAS organizers to postpone the event.
Previously, the Geneva Motor Show was canceled due to a virus outbreak. The New York Motor Show was also postponed until August from April because of this global pandemic.
Car makers in the United States, like other car manufacturers around the world, have closed their factories because of the COVID19 outbreak, following a lockdown in place by the government in an effort to curb the spread of the virus. [antaranews]
