PT ANGKASA Pura II as the manager of the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Airport in Palembang ensures that operations will continue, even though a number of international and domestic flights have closed and reduced flights.
According to Executive General Manager (EGM) of PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang Branch Office Fahroji said the airport operations were still proceeding normally. Airport operations run well, smoothly and normally.
He said two airlines serving international routes namely Scoot and Air Asia had ceased operations since March 19, 2020. In accordance with a letter received by us, AirAsia decided to stop operating the Kuala Lumpur-Palembang-Kuala Lumpu route from March 19, 2020 to May 17 2020. While Scoot with the Singapore-Palembang-Singapore route has ceased operations on March 21, 2020 until April 18, 2020.
Fahroji said that during March 2020 there was a decrease in the number of passengers up to 72%. The decrease was calculated from the highest passenger movements on March 13, 2020 which reached 11,544 passengers and reached the lowest position on March 26, 2020 as many as 3,237 passengers.
“As for the highest aircraft movements, it noted that it occurred on March 13, 2020, which was 110 movements, then the lowest on March 23, 2020, was 43 movements. Thus there was a 61% decrease in aircraft movement during this time period,” he concluded. [antaranews]
