MASTERCARD expands access to its flagship STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) curriculum, Girls4Tech, through a series of the latest online creative learning resources.
According to Susan Warner, Vice President of Community Engagement Mastercard and Founder Girls4Tech in her press release said this program has been designed to help parents and teachers to accompany and inspire children aged 8-12 years.
“Through the newly launched Girls4Tech Connect website, as well as various activities created by collaborating with Mastercard’s educational partner, Scholastic, teachers and parents can now download various subjects to help students learn about STEM topics, from their homes or anywhere they are,” said Susan Warner.
She added, this series of activities was based on global scientific and mathematical standards, as well as Mastercard expertise in payment technology and innovation. Thus, children can find various career options in the STEM field, such as Fraud Detectors, Data Scientists, and Software Engineers.
“Now in its sixth year, Girls4Tech has reached more than 800,000 students throughout the world through various questions and challenges based activities in the real world. This program aims to inspire more girls to pursue careers in the STEM field, and reduce gender disparities in that field,” she said.
Susan explained that Mastercard understood that now is a very challenging time for parents and teachers. For this reason, Mastercard hopes that these various learning resources can become a fun way to interact and inspire children to explore STEM when they are at home.
“The ease of accessing the website will support and enhance what Mastercard has done through various workshops. Mastercard hopes to continue to develop these two initiatives when things are back to normal and safe to attend classes face-to-face,” she noted.
Various new activities will be uploaded every week on the website, Facebook and Twitter Girls4Tech. At present, the Girls4Tech range of subjects is only available in English. Girls4Tech will add Spanish and Chinese content in the coming weeks.
“All subjects are designed so that students can work independently. However, the subject matter is also available for teachers, so they can guide online study sessions,” she concluded. [traveltext.id]
