MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL LIGHTING UP ASIA-PACIFIC FOR SPREAD OF HOPE

MARRIOTT International in Asia Pacific will light up the hotel building to send a positive message of giving a glimmer of hope to the community in the hotel area that is aimed at both locals and tourists.

According to Craig S. Smith, Group President, Asia Pacific, Marriott International said “Light for Hope” is an initiative to spread enthusiasm in the midst of the difficult times facing the world today.

“More than 270 hotels in various cities and regions, from Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Saigon, Jakarta, Maldives, Mumbai and many more, have turned on the lights and formed the smiling face symbol as seen in the building hotel,” he said.

He also mentioned that this symbol was chosen to reflect the happy feelings that radiate enthusiasm in the hope that all who see can smile and feel more energized.

“In times of uncertainty like today, one thing remains certain – we will go through this together and become stronger. We all wait for the time when we can travel again, but until that time comes, we will follow the guidance of the local authorities. We also continue to be committed to supporting the communities where our hotels are located,” Craig noted.

He added that after going through the various challenges faced so far, Marriott International has always been survive and rely on the humanity of our staff. Wherever you are, lights at Marriott International will always be on.

“Prioritizing humanity is the priority for Marriott International. Hotelhotels in Asia Pacific have shown extraordinary collaboration to help others. In an unprecedented period of challenges, hotel staff in Asia Pacific have been volunteering in their region for more than 40,000 hours,” he said.

He explained, their contributions included food donations, the manufacture of protective equipment for front line medical staff, and providing shelter for medical officers and journalists.
