INDUSTRY players engaged in the tourism sector are encouraged to be optimistic in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic so that they are sure to continue preparing for a holiday leave package later this year after the corona emergency has passed.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Wishnutama Kusubandio said that Tourism Ministry would prepare plans and steps in support of a program that shifts leave together with Idulfitri 1441 H to the end of the year.
“The change in leave with Idulfitri 2020 must really be anticipated by the public not to travel or go home during Eid later and replace it at the end of the year. The focus of the government in this emergency response period is handling and preventing the spread of COVID-19,” Wishnutama said in a statement in Jakarta, Monday (4/13)
The joint holiday shift to the end of the year was carried out with the consideration that at the end of the year the COVID-19 Pandemic was estimated to have been handled properly. In addition, the end of the year is also a school holiday period and gives family time to have enough time to plan a vacation.
“This is in accordance with Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy plan which will prioritize the movement of domestic tourists during the recovery period after the COVID-19 pandemic was declared finished by the government,” he noted.
Wishnutama said that Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy will collaborate with the industry/association as well as the tourism community and the creative economy, by preparing various programs that can be utilized by the public at the end of the year.
“I hope the holiday shift to the end of the year along with the end of the pandemic so that it can help the affected tourism industry to revive,” Wishnutama said.
Changes in 2020 leave together contained in the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Minister of Religion, the Minister of Manpower, and the Minister of State Administrative Reform and Bureaucracy Reform Number 391/2020, Number 02/2020 and Number 02/2020 concerning the Second Amendment to the Joint Ministerial Decree Religion, Minister of Manpower and Minister of State Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform Number 728/2019, Number 213/2019, and Number 01/2019 concerning National Holidays and Joint Leave in 2020.
The stipulations in the Joint Decree include shifting leave with Idulfitri 1441 H, which was originally set for May 26-29, 29 shifted to December 28 – 31, 2020; Idulfitri holiday remains on May 24-25 2020 and additional joint leave on the national holiday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW on October 28.
