PT ANGKASA Pura I Branch Office of Juanda International Airport Surabaya, East Java, temporarily moved domestic flight operations from Terminal 2 (T2) to Terminal 1 (T1) starting Wednesday (4/22/2020).
According to the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura I, Faik Fahmi in his statement in Jakarta said the temporary transfer was a continued effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as well as efficiency efforts in the midst of declining passenger traffic due to the pandemic while still observing the principles of safety, security, service, and compliance with applicable regulation.
“This temporary transfer is a follow-up effort in preventing the spread of COVID-19 as well as optimizing the use of T1 and the efficiency of T2 operational activities amid the decline in passenger traffic due to a pandemic,” said Faik.
He added, as for domestic flights that will be moved temporarily from T2 to T1 Juanda Airport in Surabaya, namely domestic flights served by Garuda Indonesia and AirAsia. With this transfer, all domestic flights to and from Juanda Airport will be served at Terminal 1.
“As for international flights, even though the majority of airlines have stopped international flights, they are still served on T2, especially for flights serving the return of Indonesian migrant workers due to the ceasing of operations of the companies where they work in the country,” he noted.
This temporary transfer, Faik Fahmi continued, is planned to be carried out until September. If the flight conditions have resumed, the domestic flights of Garuda Indonesia and AirAsia will return to T2. [antaranews/photo special]
