INACA: AIRLINES BANNED TO FLYING, LOSSES CANNOT BE MORE CALCULATED

THE Indonesia National Air Carriers Association (INACA) claimed that airline losses due to the homecoming ban (Ramadan exodus) this year could no longer be calculated, let alone coupled with flight cancellations until June 1, 2020 by the Ministry of Transportation.

According to INACA Secretary General Bayu Sutanto admitted there were losses because there would be no flight operations for five weeks and it did not rule out being extended. In fact, usually during the homecoming season the optimization of income only lasts for four weeks.

“No need to count anymore, surely it’s clear loss. The tendency for the route to the homecoming area, the pattern of departure of passengers is full before Lebaran, but for the return route passengers tend to be empty. On the other hand, when the homecoming flow returns, the flight route for the original destination is empty of passengers on departure and only full when returning to their destination, “he said.

He added, what else the Ministry of Transportation had officially imposed a ban on flights at home and abroad from April 24, 2020 to June 1, 2020. This was in line with the prevention of the COVID-19 virus pandemic.

Meanwhile the Director General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation, Novie Riyanto, said that exemptions were made for the use of air transportation facilities only for leaders of high state institutions and guests or state representatives and representatives of international organizations. In addition, it also operates special flight operations for repatriation or repatriation of Indonesian citizens  and foreign nationals (foreigners).

“The ban includes flights from scheduled or unscheduled airlines

Exceptions also apply to law enforcement, order and emergency service operations, cargo transportation operations (essential and essential cargo),” he said.

He explained, currently, passenger configuration aircraft can be used to transport cargo inside the passenger cabin specifically for transporting medical, health, and sanitation and food needs.

“The Ministry of Transportation said the exceptions to other operations with the permission of the Minister of Transportation in order to support the acceleration of the handling of the Covid-19 pandemic,” he added.

Novie continued for flight navigation services to continue as usual. The same thing applies for airport services to continue operating as usual in anticipation if needed to transport cargo. [bisnis.com/photo]
