RADEN INTEN AIRPORT SWITCHED TO CARGO FLIGHTS DURING THE PANDEMIC

RADEN Inten II Airport in Lampung diverted a number of passenger flights into cargo flights, as a form of support for government policy in anticipating the spread of COVID-19.

According to the Head of Asep Kosasih Samapta Airport, in Bandarlampung, said in order to support the government policy set forth in the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 25 of 2020 concerning Transportation Control During the Eid Fitr homecoming season in the context of Preventing the Spread of COVID-19, Raden Inten II Airport does not serve passenger flights.

“The operational shift from passenger flights to cargo flights will be conducted during the period from 24 April to 1 June 2020. The airport will continue to operate, but only serve cargo flights and special flights from 24 April to 1 June 2020,” he said.

He added, a number of special flight operations such as flights led by high state institutions, state guests or international organizations, special flight operations repatriating repatriation of foreigners and citizens, then for law enforcement operations, order and emergency services, as well as cargo transportation remained to be carried out

“Continuing to operate with the provisions only serves a number of operations, such as when there is an emergency landing, then the flight advocates sample infection of COVID-19 infection, and other operations to help accelerate the handling of COVID-19,” he noted.

He explained, the airport was also preparing a special cargo flight that is to transport medical needs. Passenger configuration aircraft can be used to transport cargo inside the passenger cabin specifically transporting medical, sanitary and food needs.

“For the people of Lampung, air transportation users are urged to obey government regulations to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
