PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) claims that Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang is the airport that has the largest cargo management capacity, reaching around 600,000 tons per year.
According to the President Director of PT Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin explained, in 2018 the volume of cargo handled at Soekarno-Hatta had reached 760,000 tons. Overall, during the first quarter of 2020, the volume of cargo transportation at 19 managed airports was an average of around 62,000 tons per month.
“During this period, at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport alone cargo volumes averaged 42,500 tons per month,” he explained in an official statement on Sunday (4/26).
Awaluddin said, currently there are two AP II affiliated companies that specialize in handling cargo, namely PT Angkasa Pura Kargo (ownership 99.99% share) and PT Gapura Angkasa (ownership 46.26% shares).
He added, PT Angkasa Pura Kargo has services ranging from shipping and managing cargo in the airport area including distribution centers, human remains and excess baggage, then warehousing management such as Lini-1 and Lini-2.
Meanwhile, PT Gapura Angkasa currently has a warehouse area of 8,964 square meters in the Soekarno-Hatta Cargo Terminal which is equipped with x-ray facilities, CCTV, integrated information technology systems and digital balance sheets to ensure cargo security and safety.
The Soekarno-Hatta warehousing area is also equipped with cold storage, strong room, DG Rooms, AVI Room (room for live animals) and special charge handling.
The state-owned airport operator also targets revenues of around 60-70% of the initial target of IDR12.8 trillion set before the COVID-19 pandemic. [antaranews/photo special]
