THE hospitality industry is one of the most affected because of the COVID-19 pandemic, following various policies of community movement, social restrictions and closure of travel access which makes occupancy significantly decreased.
This apparently changed the trend of hotel room bookings, which showed a longer stay duration, as quoted from OYO Rooms internal data, suggesting that previously the booking trend was dominated by short-medium stay with an average stay of 1-3 days, now in Last one month, there have been more long-term room bookings with an average stay of 7-14 days.
This trend is also expected to be supported by a call for independent isolation for at least 14 days, and is dominated by those who cannot work from home, such as medical workers and workers in vital sectors (banking and logistics).
Adapt
Research from Deloitte titled “Hospitality Impact of COVID-19” recommends some steps that the hospitality industry can take in dealing with the post-pandemic phase of COVID-19.
Like paying attention to the impact on occupancy and income levels while making emergency mitigation plans, and adapting and innovating regularly to changing situations.
As one of the industry players, OYO said that he is also adapting to conditions and preparing to face a new normal phase, in order to maintain business continuity.
“By implementing operational standards in accordance with health protocols, as well as business strategy recommendations that are relevant to this pandemic situation,” said OYO Indonesia’s Country Head of Emerging Business, Eko Bramantyo.
“In addition, the hotel sector in Indonesia, which is still permitted to operate in the midst of this pandemic, makes OYO committed to maximizing all opportunities available despite the limitations and challenges,” he continued. [antaranews/photo special]
