THE Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy coordinates with the local government to ensure the readiness of the tourism sector and the creative economy in Bali to implement a new normal health protocol that focuses on hygiene, health and safety aspects.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Wishnutama Kusubandio said there were several important points when implementing health protocols which had to be closely monitored by all tourism stakeholders, local governments, to the community.
“All must still pay close attention to the conditions of R0 and Rt, or the rate of spread of COVID-19 in the region, regional readiness, and discipline in the implementation including in Bali will greatly determine when this tourism sector can welcome tourists back,” said Wishnutama.
Wishnutama affirmed that it was very important. Because he did not want to, if he was in a hurry it would trigger an increase in the number of COVID-19 patients.
“We are worried that if we rush, it will be the cause of an increase in COVID-19, which triggers a second wave. I really want the tourism sector to be productive and safe again from COVID-19,” he noted.
During his visit to Bali, Minister Wishnutama conducted a site visit to see readiness in the Nusa Dua ITDC area, starting from checking the body temperature of tourists at the entrance of the area, then heading to the Bali Art Collection as a creative economic zone, to seeing the readiness of handling tourists at BIMC Hospital.
Wishnutama aslo explained that health protocol guidelines must be strictly adhered to so that this new normal period will bring good for all. For this reason, I also emphasize that local governments that want to open parekraf sector activities must prepare in detail, not in a hurry, and ensure that health protocols are ready to be implemented.
“The tourism sector is a sector that is very dependent on tourists’ trust in a sense of security and comfort. I am also optimistic that the uniqueness of destinations in Bali is still the main attraction of tourism in the country. With the strict supervision of the implementation of health protocols in the field, we will all be able to travel safely, and tourism and ecraftors can be productive again,” he concluded.
