According to the President Director of PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko, Edy Setijono in his statement, said the trials at Prambanan and Ratu Boko Temples completed the trials at Borobudur Temple that had been done before.
“The health protocol for tourists as an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and an operational opening trial is carried out after a permit is issued from the COVID-19 Task Force for the Covid-19 Handling of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY),” Edy Setijono said.
He said health protocols implemented included physical distancing with an appeal to always use masks and wash hands for visitors. PT TWC prepares hand washing facilities in several locations around the Prambanan and Ratu Boko Temple areas such as at the entrance of the TWC complex, the Temple area, and at the souvenir sales location.
Prospective visitors are also advised to buy tickets online through the ticket.borobudurpark.com site. While for ticket purchases at the ticket window is limited to only 70% of the total tickets sold and the rest through online reservations.
“The aim is to break the queue at the counter. This step is in accordance with government recommendations related to social/physical distancing for each tourist visiting the destination managed by PT TWC,” he noted.
In support of this, PT TWC imposes restrictions on the maximum number of visitors to 25% or 1,500 visitors every day. PT TWC also limits tourist visiting areas in the Prambanan Temple complex. Tourists are not allowed to go up to Prambanan Temple and enjoy the beauty of the temple from the zone 1 court.
In addition to the implementation of the health protocol, PT TWC also limits the operating hours of TWC Prambanan and Ratu Boko. For TWC Prambanan, it opens from 08:00 to 16:00 West Indonesia Time, while Ratu Boko operates from 10:00 to 18:00 West Indonesia Time. During this period, there was a 1 hour break to clean all health protocol equipment that has been used by tourists.
“The implementation of this trial will be monitored by a team from the regional government,” Edy added.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy appreciates the steps of local governments and tourism destination managers in preparing health protocols and ensuring strict implementation of the protocol.
Spokesperson of the COVID-19 Impact Management Task Force in the tourism sector and the creative economy Kemenparekraf, Ari Juliano Gema said, this protocol is expected to improve hygiene, health and safety standards in the tourism sector, as well as increasing digital innovation to advance Indonesia’s creative economy sectors in order to rise after the COVID-19 epidemic.
