THERE was a decrease in the number of tourists to Bali in May 2020 to 88.99% month to month (mtm), the deepest decrease was recorded for Indonesian tourists at 92.45%.
According to the Head of Bali’s Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Adi Nugroho said that compared to May last year, the top 10 countries of origin of foreign tourists also experienced a decline with the deepest recorded in tourists from France and the Netherlands up to 99.99%.
“Accumulatively in the January-May 2020 period 1,050,060 foreign tourists visited the island of Gods. There were 36 foreign tourists visiting Bali in May 2020,” he said.
He added, the number was down 88.99% compared to April 2020 mtm. However, when compared to May 2019 year on year (yoy) the number of foreign tourists decreased by 99.99% because in May 2019, foreign tourist arrivals reached 486,602 visits.
“From the arrival side, most of the tourists visiting Bali came through the airport, namely 34 visits or 94.44%. Meanwhile, only two visits or 5.56% entered the sea port in May 2020, “said Adi Nugroho.
He explained, meanwhile, the most recorded tourists visiting Bali in May 2020 came from Spain namely 52.78%, South Africa 25%, Indonesia 11.11%, France 2.78%, the Netherlands 2.78%, Bulgaria 2.78%, and Romania 2.78%.
“Spain and South Africa have experienced an increase when compared to the records of April 2020 on a month to month basis. “For Indonesian, French, Dutch, Bulgarian and Romanian tourists, there has been a significant decline,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo traveltext.id]
