BMW 4 SERIES COUPE STARTS PRODUCTION, THE NEW SERIES 5 HYBRID COMES NOVEMBER

THE luxury car manufacturer BMW announced the start of production of the latest BMW 4 Series Coupe, along with BMW 5 Series sedans, including the M5 and Series 5 Touring, and the BMW 6 Series at the Dingolfing plant, in early July.

All cars with four- and five-cylinder engines offer sharper designs, and are coupled with 48 volt hybrid-lightweight technology which is claimed to be more efficient, enhanced comfort, but more fuel efficient.

“Launching the production of five models at the same time requires proper planning and strong concentration throughout the plant. Despite the temporary stoppage of production and one shift starting again in pandemic corona conditions, we have successfully released a new BMW 4 Series Coupé, BMW 5 Series and Series The BMW 6 Tur Gran Turismo tour is on schedule, with the highest level of quality,” Christoph Schroder, head of the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing.

BMW began the production of sports coupes in 1977 through the BMW 6 Series Coupe, and now after 43 years, the BMW 4 Series Coupe is produced at the Dingolfing factory, bringing its independent design and distinctive character profile to the medium sized premium segment.

The biggest selling market for BMW’s two-door coupe is the US, UK and Germany. The new BMW 4 Series uses intelligent lightweight construction to support its unique and sporty handling. The hood, front side panels and doors of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé are made of aluminum at the Dingolfing plant.

The main chassis components are made in the adjacent BMW Group Plant 02.10. The Dingolfing component factory supplies galvanized front axle support, front and rear axles, and axle transmission to the assembly section.

In the Series 4 family, the BMW M440i xDrive Coupé consumes between 7.1 and 6.8 liters of fuel per 100 km and CO2 emissions of 163-155 grams/km. The powerful 275 kW/374 hp in-line six-cylinder petrol engine makes it able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds.

Two four-cylinder petrol engines and four-cylinder diesel units will also be available from the market launch in October 2020. Two in-line six-cylinder diesel engines will also join the ranks in March 2021.

The new BMW 4 Series Coupé is equipped with a retractable seat belt and windshield with acoustic glass as standard. The introduction of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé global market will begin in October 2020, with prices starting at 45,800 euros.

Four updated BMW 5 and 6 models will also begin production at Dingolfing this month, along with the new BMW 4 Series. The BMW 5 Series has been a real success story for the BMW Group Plant Dingolfing since 1973.

More than 630,000 units of the current generation model have been sold worldwide. Targeted optimization now creates the conditions needed to continue the success of the BMW 5 Series. Updates to the BMW 5 Series include an improved BMW kidney-shaped grille and LED lights that provide new graphic elements, while the rear lights have undergone three-dimensional modeling.

The BMW M GmbH also provides the BMW M5 high performance sedan with a sharper look, including a redesigned front and rear.

The BMW 5 Series now offers more electric drive train options, namely the BMW 530e sedan, the BMW 5 Series Touring which will be present for the first time as a plug-in hybrid in the fall of 2020, and the BMW 545e xDrive sedan which will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid, the first combined with a six-cylinder gasoline engine. Starting November 2020, five electric model variants from the BMW 5 Series will be available. [antaranews]
