THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has prepared a budget of IDR100 billion to facilitate the independent isolation of people without symptoms (OTG) COVID-19.
According to Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Wishnutama Kusubandio stated that this step was a follow-up to President Joko Widodo’s recent directives to increase the capacity of isolation services for residents with the virus.
Wishnutama explained that the budget was used to guarantee asymptomatic patient facilities during isolation at a 3-star hotel. The services provided include food and beverage provision and laundry services for quarantine for 14 days.
“The number of facilities provided by Kemenparekraf can accommodate around 14,000 people from September to December for isolation for 14 days per patient. This program will temporarily focus on five areas, namely DKI Jakarta, Bali, North Sumatra, West Java, and South Kalimantan,” Wishnutama said.
He emphasized that hotels participating in this program must carry out health protocols regulated by the Ministry of Health and not accept public guests. We work closely with the Ministry of Health and the hotel industry for facilitation. I emphasized that participating hotels must be able to implement health protocols in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Health so as not to create new clusters.
In this case, he stated that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy would collaborate with the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) which would provide hotel recommendations for isolation facilities.
This recommendation will be selected by the Ministry of Health for further action. The Ministry of Health will also be involved in monitoring the provision of health workers and patient handling needs such as medicines and ambulances.
“So far, hotels that are ready are Ibis Hotels, Pop Hotels, Mercure and Novotel for the Jabodetabek area. In Bali there is Ibis and in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan there is Novotel. We also open up opportunities for other hotels to participate, but I reiterate that we must apply health protocols,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
