THE electric car from Porsche, the Taycan, will be the first electric car to get full integration of the original Apple Podcasts, allowing owners to access Apple’s library of 1.5 million original shows, quoted from The Verge.
The car’s infotainment system also gets support for the Apple Music lyrics feature, which will be displayed on the passenger side screen. The features are now available in the new Taycan, and will roll out to cars already released that January.
Apple Podcasts were previously available to stream to the Taycan infotainment system via Apple CarPlay, but the native app means users don’t need to connect a phone to start listening.
This also means the app can stream over an in-vehicle data connection. Users get three years of internet data with the purchase of a car. Apple Music’s lyrics feature was not previously available via CarPlay.
In addition to the show list, Porsche owners will be able to sync their podcast listening with other devices via their Apple ID. Voice control is supported via the Porsche Voice Assistant.
Apple Podcasts is the second built-in Apple app that Porsche Taycan will first get, after last year’s Apple Music app.
Android users haven’t been that lucky because Taycan still lacks support for Android Auto. There are signs that Porsche is softening its stance on Google’s car infotainment system, after the company added support for it earlier this year in an upgraded infotainment system for some of its legacy cars.
