Globally, it rose 29% in the second quarter of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019. Based on Agoda data, the main destinations in Indonesia that were booked heavily in the second quarter of this year were Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta and Bali.
Agoda introduced new GoLocal Tonight and HygienePlus features to meet the needs of travelers who now tend to make spontaneous bookings just moments before traveling.
Based on Agoda GoLocal’s domestic survey, it was found that eight out of ten travelers in Indonesia are ready and want to start traveling. Meanwhile, 76 percent want to explore domestic tourist destinations for the next year, in which the island of Bali is the main target, followed by Jakarta and Yogyakarta.
GoLocal Tonight is a continuation of the GoLocak campaign, offering domestic travelers who book the same day up to 30% discount. Agoda partnered with more than 500 hotels throughout Indonesia for this campaign.
Agoda also launched the HygienePlus verification feature to ensure accommodation providers are implementing wellness protocols. Currently there are more than 3000 hotels that have received the HygienePlus badge. The HygienePlus feature of Agoda includes a long list based on international health standards maintained by hotels.
These include training staff on safety protocols, contact-free check-in/out, temperature measurement of staff and guests, staff wearing face shields, protective screens in common areas, daily disinfection in accommodation and rooms, provision of face masks, provision of sterilization equipment and hand. sanitizers for guests, setting up a safe dining room, and installing instructions to ensure physical distancing.
