THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy coordinates with the Ministry of Transportation to discuss support for connectivity development in the country, especially in 5 super priority destinations (DSP).
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, during a visit to the Karsa Building of the Ministry of Transportation, explained that the development of the tourism sector and the creative economy requires the support of other sectors including transportation or connectivity.
“We are discussing President Jokowi’s directives regarding the development of 5 DSPs. Because the sector of parecraf and transportation has a reciprocal relationship. Earlier we spoke clearly regarding Lake Toba, Borobudur, and other wider destinations,” he said.
Sandiaga Uno also explained when he directly observed one of the port transportation infrastructure on Lake Toba, namely the Ajibata Port which was greatly felt by the community and tourists who wanted to go to Samosir Island from Toba Samosir Regency.
“I have also seen one of the ports on Lake Toba, namely Ajibata. With the construction of this infrastructure it can provide more optimal services to the community. The most important thing is how future management will impact the community and this is what we continue to coordinate,” Sandiaga noted.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said that Transportation Ministry had built 13 ports on Lake Toba. So that the construction of the port infrastructure can be useful for the tourism sector and the creative economy.
“What we build is in accordance with its utilization and its clear use. I am sure we can collaborate between what we build and operate can be used for tourism,” he stated.
As a regulator in the transportation sector, the Ministry of Transportation is tasked with preparing adequate infrastructure and facilities to support human mobility, smooth the flow of goods, and create an efficient and effective transportation system.
