INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is collaborating with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to advance Indonesia’s tourism and creative economy sector (Parekraf) which is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno in his meeting with the Minister of Law and Human Rights, Yasonna H. Laoly at the Kemenkumham Office, South Jakarta, said this meeting discussed several things. Such as preparing for the opening of Indonesia in stages for foreign tourists after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“One of them is the formulation of a second home visa for foreign citizens who want to do long-term activities in Indonesia. So with several provisions we can open up investment opportunities and five-year visa opportunities for foreign tourists who want to do activities in Indonesia,” Sandiaga said.
In addition to the second home visa, Sandiaga continued, the Ministry of Tourism also discussed relaxation for citizens of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) members who already have travel bubble agreements or travel corridor arrangements with reciprocal principles as well as for tourism and creative economy players. This is also to respect the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in ASEAN which has been mutually agreed upon.
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Strategic Policy at the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, R. Kurleni Ukar, conveyed that a joint study and evaluation of the Visit Visa Free Policy was necessary, while the Deputy for Marketing, Nia Niscaya, emphasized the importance of Country of Residence data and the purpose of visits for formulating marketing strategies.
Sandiaga also discussed the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) for creative economy players. Especially IPR protection for creative economy players who are in the five super priority destinations (DSP). In addition, protection of IPR is also very important for the creative products of the nation’s people that are exported abroad.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Industry and Investment, Fadjar Hutomo, added that the creative economy sector is closely related to the monetization of intellectual property. So, the collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Law and Human Rights is expected to strengthen the protection of IPR of the products of creative economy actors in Indonesia.
“We have long worked well with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, especially in facilitating the protection of intellectual property rights of creative actors. Because talking about the creative economy will certainly talk about how to monetize intellectual property,” Fadjar noted.
At the same time, the Minister of Law & Human Rights, Yasonna H. Laoly said that Ministry L&HR would strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism to advance and develop the tourism sector and creative economy in the country.
“We hope that this relationship can continue to be developed to increase tourism and the creative economy (Parekraf) and increase our country’s foreign exchange from this sector. We believe and are confident that this pandemic will pass, so from now on we are starting to prepare steps towards developing tourism and Indonesia’s creative economy,” Yasonna concluded.
