THE Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy relies on a number of excellent programs to accelerate the recovery of the tourism and creative economy (Parekraf) sector after the start of the national vaccination program.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno explained, there are several flagship programs of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy ranging from technology adaptation to developing tourist villages in the country.
He explained that during the pandemic there were many Parekraf players who adapted to technology. The government through Bank Indonesia has launched QRIS as a payment platform for tourism and creative economy (Parekraf) players together and also the implementation of Go Mandalika, an e-tourism platform in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
“During a pandemic like this, there are open opportunities related to technology and the digital economy which will be followed up so that more and more adaptable Parekraf players apply the digital economy,” he said.
Minister Sandiaga also explained that the development of a tourist village which is one of the flagship programs of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is expected to be a driving force for the recovery of the tourism sector and the creative economy.
“Our flagship program, which is expected to touch communities throughout the archipelago, is the development of 244 tourist villages that we are targeting by 2024 to become independent tourism villages. I see this tourist village generating a tourism in a new era,” he stated.
I strongly urge, Sandiaga continued that the Parekraf sector is not part of the problem, but tourism and the creative economy are solutions as sectors to restore the economy in the country. We present Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) as a guideline and part of our commitment, that we are part of the solution and I expressly say that as long as we want to carry out health protocols, improve discipline, these stages can start this year.
He added that regarding the event, the Ministry of Tourism has also coordinated with the Task Force, the Police, the Regional Government, and other stakeholders. If the implementation of the event can be carried out, but still with the implementation of strict and disciplined health protocols.
Sandiaga Uno also explained that regarding long-term visas, Tourism Ministry was coordinating with related Ministries/Agencies such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Law and Human Rights , and others.
“Currently, in the finalization stage, the second home visa is expected to improve the quality of tourism in terms of length of visit and the amount of expenditure that has an impact on the community’s economy. Moreover, currently there is a potential for 1 billion global citizens aged 60 years and over with income of more than US41.5 trillion,” he noted.
The plan to open the border doors for foreign tourists, according to the target set by President Jokowi for Bali, will open in June-July 2021.
“The long-term visa policy plan is also in line with the government’s preparation to implement the travel bubble policy and the ASEAN Travel Corridor. Some of the arrival gates prepared are Bali, Batam and Bintan. We hope that the plan to open the doors of foreign tourists with this particular cooperation will be completed soon because it applies the principle. reciprocity or reciprocity,” he concluded.
