Indonesia has many destinations for road trips, namely several destinations on the island of Java, such as Bandung, Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, and many more. However, the condition of the COVID-19 pandemic seems to force anyone who travels to apply health protocols based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE).
Through the #InDOnesiaCARE action, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, emphasized the strict and disciplined application of the CHSE-based health protocol to be the main key in efforts to revive the tourism sector and the creative economy.
“The projection of this tourism recovery will depend very much on the COVID-19 case. If we can get single or double digits (the number of transmission of COVID-19 cases), of course it will be extraordinary so that it will build confidence to travel from tourists,” said Minister Sandiaga Uno, early February 2021.
So in order to stay safe during the road trip, especially when you have to stop at the rest area, here’s what to do:
Follow health protocols
Wherever we are, remain disciplined to apply health protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands with soap. In addition, if you want to go to the toilet, don’t forget to bring disinfectant or wet wipes that contain alcohol so that cleanliness in the toilet is guaranteed.
Avoid crowded places
Usually a café or pujasera is the main destination when stopping at a rest area. If you see that the place is quite crowded, you should wait a moment until the situation is somewhat conducive. But if the stomach can’t compromise, ask a representative from the group to order culinary delights to eat in the vehicle. Remember, the COVID-19 pandemic is still not over. Don’t be careless, let alone careless!
Do Not Littering
Usually when traveling overland, trash cans are a part that cannot be ignored. Now, when you arrive at the rest area, you should hurry up and dispose of the trash in the vehicle to the place provided. After that, clean the garbage containers in the vehicle again with alcohol before putting them back into the vehicle. It’s not a problem to say it’s excessive, the important thing is that the road trip is safe and we stay healthy.
