TOURISM SECTOR STAGNANT, ONLY 50% BALI’S RETAIL INDUSTRY ABLE TO PAY THR

MORE than 50% of retail industry players in Bali claim to be able to pay the 2021 holiday allowance (THR) to employees in full.

According to the Chairman of the Indonesian Retail Entrepreneurs Association (Aprindo) in Bali Province Anak Agung Ngurah Agung Agra Putra said that through efficiency measures undertaken by business players in the retail sector, entrepreneurs can pay the full annual THR.

“The efficiency is carried out in various fields that are able to reduce operating expenses. Starting from reducing the hours or working days of Human Resources (HR), efficient use of electricity and water, to the effectiveness of procurement of merchandise and marketing,” he said.

He explained, so we in the retail sector are ready to carry out the government’s appeal, although it cannot be denied that the retail sector is also affected by this pandemic. With a decrease in sales occurred up to 40-50%. In pandemic conditions, THR payments are still adjusted to the conditions of their respective companies because not all retail business actors are in good enough condition.

“But even if there is a policy from the company, there must have been discussions and agreements reached with its employees,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardhana Sukawati said that the THR payment by the tourism industry is still considered heavy. Because it has been more than one year, tourism actors are in a condition that has no income. Meanwhile, the burden of paying employees’ monthly salaries was circumvented by doing an unpaid leave.

“In Bali, especially in the tourism service industry, I think the understanding between employers and workers is well established,” he affirmed.

Likewise, General Manager of Harris Hotel and Residences Sunset Road, Nyoman Wirayasa, said the hotel will still pay the employees THR in full, even though the business climate has not improved. This is to fulfill the company’s obligations under regulations issued by the central government. Although this situation is still tough for us, and business conditions have not improved. But we are trying to fulfill our obligation to pay THR in full. [bisnis.com/photo special]
