SANDIAGA: SUPER PRIORITY TOURISM DESTINATION WILL HAVE AUTOMOTIVE TOURISM

THE Super Priority Tourism Destination (SPTD) will have automotive-based tourism, said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno in a talk show at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) Hybrid 2021 at Jiexpo Kemayoran, Jakarta.

“A number of DPSPs such as Borobudur, Mandalika, Likupang, and Labuan Bajo already have automotive-based tourism programs. At Purworejo in Borobudur there will be an MX GP, this is similar to MotoGP but for trail. This world level will be in Borobudur,” Sandiaga said.

Meanwhile, in Mandalika, he said, a MotoGP event will be held in March 2022. As for the closest thing, a Superbike event will be held in November in a tourist area of 1,035 hectares in Lombok, NTB. Super priority destinations in Likupang and Labuan Bajo also have automotive-nuanced tourism programs.

“Likupang may have activities related to automotive, touring, and so on. For Labuan Bajo we aim for nature conservation, for nature preservation, and that’s where cars and motorbikes with environmentally friendly nuances will be encouraged,” Sandiaga affirmed.

Furthermore, Sandiaga noted that automotive infrastructure would also be built in the DPSP area, such as charging facilities for electric vehicles.

“My hope is that these tourist destinations now focus on environmentally friendly vehicles, namely electric vehicles, not only cars but also motorbikes, so this will be our duty together,” he concluded. [photo traveltext.id]
