TO SUPPORT TOURISM, BLIBLI LAUNCHED 2021 TRAVEL & UMKM FEST PROGRAM

BLIBLI launched the Blibli Travel & UMKM (Micro Small and Medium Enterprises) Fest program to support the revival of the tourism industry and creative economy in the country which had weakened due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This program is Blibli’s commitment to innovating by bringing together local tourism and creative economy players in technology-based ecosystems, as a form of support for the government through the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and tourism associations which are also moving to restore tourism in Indonesia through the use of technology.

According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism sector makes the government need to adjust projections for local and foreign tourist visits this year. The government is also increasingly encouraging investment in the tourism sector and strengthening tourism promotion by optimally utilizing digital technology.

“Our collaboration with tourism associations and sellers as well as the creative economy has helped us to curate a choice of tourist destinations and tour packages that are attractive and safe for customers,” said Lay Ridwan Gautama, EVP of Digital, Automotive & Travel Category Blibli in a press conference Blibli Travel & UMKM Fest 2021, Thursday (22/4).

In the midst of the pandemic, Blibli is witnessing that more and more tour and travel industry players are moving to online platforms. Comparing the performance of the first quarter of 2021 with the same period in 2020, the number of sellers has increased by 50% which shows that tour and travel players are expanding to e-commerce channels to reach the market.

The entry of these new sellers has quadrupled the number of tourist products compared to the previous year. The tourism products offered also vary, such as Virtual Tours to Travel Coupons.

This growth shows that more and more actors in the tourism industry are realizing the importance of digital transformation to survive the pandemic. Blibli also provides a forum for players in the tourism industry and the local creative economy with the presence of the Gallery Indonesia category, where this category also experienced seven times growth compared to the previous year.

To present a program that can massively promote these two industries, Blibli is holding the Blibli Travel & UMKM Fest program which will take place from 16 to 30 April 2021.

More than 90,000 tourism and creative economy actors participate in this program, including associations and sellers in the field of travel, hospitality and tourism villages to present various attractive destinations and tour packages for customers.

“This program is also a forum for collaboration with various parties, including tourism associations such as the Indonesian Travel Agent Association, Astindo and the Indonesian Experiential Learning Association, AELI, as well as the hospitality industry that is incorporated in international hotel chains and hotels such as TAUZIA Hotels which provide guaranteed staycation options. implementation of the Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) certification,” Lay Ridwan affirmed.

Lay Ridwan also highlighted the experiential tourism package that was also present at the Blibli Travel & UMKM Fest program, which was provided by a number of MSME players in various tourist villages spread across Indonesia.
