MINISTER of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi, assessed that connectivity is able to ensure the presence of investment in Indonesia through infrastructure development such as transportation, roads, and so on.
“Connectivity ensures that there are investments in a number of transportation infrastructure development projects, including in Patimban Port, Ambon Baru Port, Makassar-Parepare Railway Line, Palembang Tanjung Carat Port, and Kuala Tanjung Port,” he said in a press release, Friday (23/4).
He added that building inter-regional connectivity through various infrastructure developments, cannot rely on just one ministry/agency. Rather, it needs good collaboration between stakeholders and the government.
Furthermore, he explained, one of the collaborations carried out between Ministries/Agencies in building infrastructure to create connectivity is between the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing, and the National Economic Recovery Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM).
“The Ministry of Transportation has transportation nodes, namely: airports, ports, stations and terminals. To connect it, of course, requires road infrastructure built by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing. In building the infrastructure, both transportation and roads, of course, requires investment which is part of the BKPM’s duties,” he noted.
Budi hopes that in the future the synergy and collaboration between Ministries/Institutions will be stronger in an effort to build inter-regional connectivity while at the same time bringing in investments that can have a positive impact on the Indonesian economy. [photo special]
