INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will involve many parties to tighten and supervise the implementation of health protocols in tourist destinations and creative economy centers, especially during the Eid holidays.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, SandiagaUno in the ‘Press Weekly Briefing’ which was conducted in a hybrid manner from the Sapta Pesona Building, Tuesday (27/4) afternoon, said one of the programs that will be focused on this year’s Eid holiday is encouraging the implementation of strict health protocols. and discipline in creative economy destinations and centers.
“In the framework of Implementing the Limitation of Community Activities (PPKM) on a micro scale, there are community activities that are allowed. The decision is submitted to the local government according to the COVID-19 figures in their respective regions. And if tourist destinations are opened, we firmly say that it must be implemented. CHSE health protocol is strict and disciplined,” he said.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy itself, he continued has published a guidebook for the implementation of Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) in destinations and various places as well as business fields in the tourism sector and the creative economy. This guide will continue to be disseminated to actors in tourism and the creative economy.
“Like tomorrow there will be activities in Kota Tua with the DKI Provincial Government. Kota Tua is one of the most popular destinations during the Eid holidays, and if it is opened by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, we want to make sure that the guidelines for health protocols are strictly adhered to and disciplined. We will continue to socialize the CHSE protocol guidelines. and submit it to each destination so that tourist activities can run according to the applicable provisions,” Sandiaga stated.
Based on his experience seeing firsthand and absorbing local aspirations, the implementation of CHSE-based health protocols has been going well. Although he did not deny that there were still destinations or locations where the implementation of health protocols had to be improved.
“This requires collaboration between the central government, regional governments and the COVID-19 Task Force as well as the community and the business world. In fact, we want to involve educational institutions, because monitoring in detail requires 360 degrees of capability. We must collaborate with such compliance,” Sandiaga pointed out.
Sandiaga ensured that in the future the Ministry of Tourism would not only encourage and encourage the implementation of health protocols, but also ensure compliance. There will be a mechanism if they cannot comply (implementation of health protocols) will be warned, followed by fines. Coordinating with the local government, we also do not hesitate to recommend closing sanctions.
Meanwhile, when he asked related to the expansion of tourism grant funds, Sandiaga directly answered that the status is still in the process of being submitted to the 2021 National Economic Recovery (PEN) program as part of the K/L sectoral PEN program for tourism support. For this year, tourism grants have been proposed to be increased in number and expanded in reach. From last year’s IDR3.3 trillion to IDR3.7 trillion this year with coverage not only for hotels and restaurants but also for travel agencies.
“The tourism grant fund for 2021 is proposed to use the 2019 hotel tax, restaurant tax and entertainment tax data and the 2019 income tax or value added tax for the travel agency business (BPW). But we get positive indications because some of the ministry/agency sectoral PEN programs for tourism support will be prioritized,” Sandiaga added.
The distribution of grant funds is still proposed through the transfer mechanism to the regions. So that later the regions will determine business sectors such as registered travel agencies that will receive grant funds in accordance with the recorded income tax.
“We encourage travel agents to prepare and coordinate with their respective associations,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
