MAWATU, THE INTEGRATED TOURISM AREA OF LABUAN BAJO STARTS TO WORK

SAUMATA Apartments and Saumata Suites in Alam Sutera Tangerang, Vasanta Group through PT Graha Properti Sentosa held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Mawatu project on Pantai Batu Cermin, Labuan Bajo. This marked the start of work on an integrated tourism area project in the Labuan Bajo area, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

According to the Director of PT Graha Properti Sentosa, Erick Wihardja in a press release on Saturday (1/5), said Labuan Bajo is one of the government’s top five priority tourism destinations announced by President Joko Widodo, this project will be the pride of the Labuan Bajo people and become the main destination for local and foreign tourists when visiting.

“Mawatu is a mix-use tourism development project covering an area of approximately 12 hectares with the concept of an integrated tourism area on the coast, the first in Labuan Bajo. We are sure that Mawatu will further complement Labuan Bajo as a favorite tourism destination in addition to the beauty of Rinca Island, Padar Island, Komodo Island, Wae Rebo, Sawah Lingko and many other destinations,” said Erick.

Mawatu introduces a complete and integrated tourist area, consisting of five-star hotels, lifestyle hotels, floating restaurants, villas, beach clubs, squares, as well as shopping, culinary and entertainment centers in one area (one stop holiday destination). This integrated tourist area is also equipped with a dock for boats to stop by for visitors.

With the theme “The New Seafront Town Center & Leisure Park of Labuan Bajo”, this concept is the first and largest in Labuan Bajo. The architectural design that applies traditional modern concepts and blends with nature and the contours of the original land, will become a special attraction when walking around the entire area. The concept without motorized vehicles in the Mawatu area will also add comfort to all visitors.

For the first phase of development which is planned to be completed at the end of the quarter of 2022, Mawatu will complete the construction of a village market (outlet/shopping center), a four-star hotel, a city square for arts activities, music & gathering places, floating hotels/villas, and a center. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises which is Mawatu’s support for small traders around the area. Meanwhile, the second phase is planned to complete the construction of a five-star hotel and residential villa.

“Rumah Panjang or what we call Tribal House is a hotel with a stilt house concept on the water which will be one of Mawatu’s pride, because it takes design inspiration from a traditional house combined with the comfort of a star hotel on the water. We are sure that Tribal House visitors will experience a different vacation than staying in an ordinary hotel,” Erick added.

The restaurant and shopping area in Mawatu will later carry the idea of an open roof (rooftop) which can be used as a cafe area to add added value to shop owners and tenants.

“It is hoped that with this innovative concept, the owners and tenants will get maximum benefits and added value,” Erick noted.

Vasanta Group believes that this project will create a concept of a tourist area and Town-Center that has its own potential and appeal for local and foreign tourists. At the same time, it also creates jobs for the surrounding community and provides added value for all stakeholders, including consumers and investors. [antaranews]
