FOR THE MOTOGP EVENT, MANDALIKA REQUIRES 7,500 HOTEL ROOMS

THE MotoGP event, which is planned to be held in March 2022, requires 7,500 hotel rooms as supporting facilities for drivers, crews, and spectators or tourists to stay.

Data from Bank Indonesia (BI) West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) noted that currently there are 7,113 rooms or 387 rooms less than the target. The hotel rooms are ready to spread across Central Lombok with 1,177 rooms, Mataram with 2,118 rooms and North Lombok 3,818 hotel rooms.

According to Deputy Head of BI NTB Representative Iwan Kurniawan explained that just to meet the Dorna team requires 2,500 hotel rooms during the MotoGP. Our estimate is that there are 10,000 visitors, 50% tourists and 50% local residents, therefore 7,500 hotel rooms are needed with an estimated 1 room filled with 2 people.

“Currently, several major hotels are being built, such as the Pullman Hotel, which has entered the construction phase of 40%. The hotel is targeted to operate in September 2021. Hotel Pullman is estimated to operate 180 rooms in 2021 and 257 rooms in 2022. In addition, Casa Baio Hotel is also targeted to operate in September with 220 rooms, Amber Resort operates in July with 75 rooms,” Iwan noted.

He explained that there is another strategy that the government has taken to increase the number of home stays in the area around Mandalika to accommodate tourists. The expansion of the home stay is a program of the central government. [bisnis.com/photo special]
