BATAM-BINTAN BRIDGE PROJECT TO PREPARE BOTH AREA DEVELOPMENT

THE Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono revealed the Batam-Bintan Bridge project to prepare for the development of areas in the two regions.

“For the Batam-Bintan Bridge project, I think this is also the same in preparation for developing Batam and Bintan areas,” said Minister Basuki in a market sounding in Jakarta, Thursday (6/5).

According to Basuki said this has become the government’s priority program to make the area not only an industrial area but also a tourist area. I also hope that with an investment value of IDR13.66 trillion, investors can immediately decide to participate in the Batam-Bintan development so that the Batam-Bintan area becomes a potential area for economic and tourism development.

On the same occasion, Director General of Public Works and Housing Infrastructure Financing of the Ministry of PUPR, Eko Djoeli Heripoerwanto, said that the Batam-Bintan Bridge project with a project length of 14.76 Km and the auction target will be carried out in the second quarter of this year.

“This project has undergone a change in the investment value to Rp13.66 trillion from the previous IDR8.78 trillion,” he said.

Previously, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing revealed that the financing for the construction of the Batam-Bintan Bridge in the Riau Islands uses the Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.

The financing of infrastructure development with the PPP scheme has advantages compared to the APBN, including for the private sector to have certainty of return (investment) plus profits, while the benefits of the project government are many that supervise, so that an administrative and technical order is created to serve the public better.

The Batam-Bintan Bridge includes a special bridge consisting of 2 bridges, namely Batam-Tanjung Sauh and Tanjung Sauh-Bintan. Meanwhile, the portion of Government financing on the Batam-Tanjung Sauh bridge, meanwhile, Tanjung Sauh-Bintan will be built by investors through an auction process.

The initial design for the construction of this bridge was made by the Riau Islands Provincial Government in 2005 and updated in 2010. However, because in the future it is in the form of a toll bridge or passing vehicles will be charged a tariff, so there are design changes to match the toll standards where the bridge width was previously 28 meters. adjusted to 33 meters.
