THE surveillance audit carried out by LS-Pro ISTC facilitated by the Ministry of Tourism greatly helped the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as the manager of The Nusa Dua area.
According to the Managing Director of The ITDC Nusa Dua, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita said this is to monitor the implementation of the sustainable tourism program which is applied in the implementation of area management and provision, as well as maintenance of environmentally friendly infrastructure, including the implementation of cooperation with the environment in an effort to improve the community’s economy in around the area and maintain cultural preservation which is the main capital of Bali tourism.
“Fulfillment of the aspects of sustainable tourism and the implementation of the concept of Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) will also increase the value of The Nusa Dua area as an integrated tourism destination and can become a matter of pride, as well as a role model for other areas in Indonesia that will be developed with sustainable principles,” said I Gusti Ngurah.
He added that the stages of implementing this surveillance audit, starting with the delivery of the aims and objectives by the lead auditor, followed by a presentation delivered by the Managing Director of ITDC Nusa Dua. Then, a verification interview with the stakeholders present, including the Community Empowerment Agency, Jero Bendesa, Bualu Traditional Village, Benoa Traditional Village, Community Association Groups around the community, LHK Service Representatives, Regency Tourism Office, Bali MICE, Security (Indonesia National Army and National Police), and others.
“Followed by checking documents or supporting evidence, field visits to review physical evidence of the implementation of sustainability standards. And finally, reading the audit report to the management and stakeholders at ITDC The Nusa Dua Bali,” he noted.
In delivering the audit results, the lead auditor, Frans Teguh, expressed his high appreciation to ITDC managers for their success in maintaining and increasing sustainability efforts at the destination. The audit results concluded that there were no significant points of discrepancy in the surveillance that had been carried out.
The auditors provide good points records for ITDC achievements, including safety and health hazard response systems, accurate promotional activities related to new normal situations, and there are videos that promote how to implement the CHSE to gain tourists’ trust.
In addition, environmental management at ITDC Nusa Dua is already running well. The area is clean, green, and beautiful, equipped with a variety of plants in the garden or in each property managed by the hotel.
Some of the best practices in the environmental category that have been carried out by ITDC are the conservation of local flora and fauna, wastewater management (IPAL), and solid waste or garbage (composting and B3 management), optimal use of clean water through the Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) method. and Reuse Treated Wastewater without using water from bore wells.
