MINISTRY COLLABORATES WITH KADIN TO SUPPORT TOURISM SECTOR

THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is collaborating with the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) to seek to restore the tourism sector and the creative economy affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno during a gathering and discussion with representatives of Kadin and tourism sector associations at the Soesilo Soedarman Hall, Sapta Pesona Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (19/5) explained the position of Kadin and The government in driving the national economy is as an equal partner where Kadin is a partner of the government as stipulated in Law Number 1 Year 1987. For this reason, this collaboration needs to be carried out properly.

“As partners, we hope that Kadin and the association will be able to improve the performance of our collaboration together, because COVID-19 has an impact on 34 million tourism & creative economy players, and 90% of tourism & creative economy players are Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) players. In the data we received from Bank Indonesia, during the pandemic there were 72% of MSME players experiencing a decline in work and performance,” Sandiaga said.

Sandiaga also hopes that coordination with the association and Kadin can continue to be improved, especially after Kadin has launched the Mutual Cooperation or Independent Vaccination program. Along with that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages the implementation of the Mandiri Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) program in the midst of the business world.

“This is one of the pillars of our efforts in tackling COVID-19, we can collaborate competitively with the association and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to help traffickers who have been experiencing problems for more than one year due to this pandemic,” he said.

In addition, Sandiga Uno also appreciated Kadin for holding a National Conference in Bali in early June 2021, because after a long time the island of the gods was economically depressed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He advised that the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry be held with strict health protocols. The goal is to be able to become a pilot in other large organizational national conference.

“The health protocol is very strict and disciplined involving thousands of chambers and the first multistage, hybrid munas and we hope to become an example of organizing other large organizational congresses,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Kadin Rosan Perkasa Roeslani added, tourism has a very broad multiplier effect. According to the data, there are 80 million people who depend on the tourism sector from all fields.

“Tourism in many countries is a way to rise in the midst of a pandemic. Kadin will play a lot in the tourism sector, because there are so many industries that intersect with tourism,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
