MINISTRY ENCOURAGES CAPACITY BUILDING FOR CIREBON EKRAF PLAYERS

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy encourages creative economy actors in Cirebon, West Java, to increase skill capacity in order to revive the potential, enthusiasm, and income of creative economy (Ekraf) players affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, when meeting with creative economy players in Cirebon, West Java, Monday (31/5) explained that the COVID-19 pandemic forces creative economy players to improve skills and adapt in developing businesses. One of them is through increasing skills by utilizing the marketplace as a means of selling, but also social media as a marketing platform.

“The skills of marketing and selling goods through online have become an absolute must for creative and economy players at this time. But not only that, the skills to create creative product content may also have to be improved so that consumer interest is higher. For that, we must improve Cirebon, which has become an icon of the tourism sector and creative economy with batik and culinary products, especially in the midst of a pandemic and economic hardship,” he said.

Sandiaga ensured that the Tourism Ministry will come up with policies that are fair, to touch people in need, programs that are right on target and have the right benefits so that they are timely for the tourism sector and the creative economy.

“Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has distributed the first tourism grant of IDR2.2 trillion in 2020. And will propose a grant of IDR3.7 trillion which will be expanded not only to hotels and restaurants. But its use can be extended to other tourism & creative economy players. The government must be present to provide a touch of liquidity and we help through tourism grant funds, we are currently mapping it and we hope for assistance from the Regency/City Government to provide the latest data on Creative Economy players in Cirebon,” he stated.

Sandiaga Uno hopes that creative economy players in Cirebon Regency can improve the quality of their products through training and business assistance that will soon be held in the region.

“We have to do innovation, adaptation, and collaboration. We also have to do 3G, Gercep, Geber, Gaspol (move fast, move together, and work on all potential). And tourism and creative economy players have one common need, namely training, assistance, and access to capital. This is what we will help through Tourism Ministry programs to open the widest possible employment opportunities,” he concluded. [traveltext.id]
