MSMES IN MANDALIKA HAS A BUSINESS POTENTIAL UP TO IDR109 BILLION

HEAD of the Presidential Staff Office, Moeldoko said the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) business sector in the super priority tourist area of Mandalika, West Nusa Tenggara, has business potential of up to IDR 109.1 billion and will provide an economic multiplier effect for the surrounding community.

“The development of this super priority tourism destination (SPTD) will open up new jobs. There will be many local MSMEs who are directly involved in supporting Mandalika’s priority tourism,” said Moeldoko during a dialogue with MSMEs in the Mandalika Bazaar area, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Monday (6/7).

Through a written statement, Moeldoko mentioned that several MSMEs that will receive an economic multiplier effect due to the presence of tourist destinations are MSMEs car rental, motorbike rental, food and beverage (F&B), MSME campsites and temporary residential accommodation.

From that list, Moeldoko said, the biggest business potential came from F&B MSMEs which reached IDR80 billion. This figure is an estimate that F&B MSMEs can produce from each championship in the World Superbike (WSBK) and MotoGP events.

Meanwhile, the potential for car rental business is IDR10.2 billion, motorbike rental is IDR1.8 billion, MSME camping is IDR3.8 billion, and temporary residential accommodation is IDR13.3 billion.

The business potential, said Moeldoko, is the result of the construction of the Mandalika SPTD  development which has an investment value of IDR4.54 trillion.

“Starting from infrastructure development, infrastructure, regional development, airport expansion, to making homestays. Even the development of the Mandalika SPTD does not only involve State-Owned Enterprises, but local and national private companies,” said Moeldoko.

Moeldoko explained that his visit to Mandalika on Monday was to show the government’s seriousness in encouraging the development of the Mandalika SPTD. Moreover, the Presidential Staff Office oversees specifically so that infrastructure development runs holistically and on target.

“In accordance with the expectations of President Joko Widodo. The development of the super priority tourism destination (SPTD) must make a significant contribution to the region, especially the local community,” Moeldoko stated

In addition, said Moeldoko, Presidential Staff Office will ensure that the Mandalika area becomes a new tourism magnet in Indonesia. He considered the need for a grand narrative in communicating progress in the development of Mandalika to the public.

“So that it can increase the confidence of domestic and foreign tourists to visit Mandalika,” he noted.

Meanwhile Deputy III of the Presidential Chief of Staff for Economic Affairs, Panutan S. Sulendrakusuma, added that the existence of the Mandalika was also a driving force for the implementation of the Job Creation Law, especially the derivative regulations in Government Regulation number 7 concerning Ease of Doing Business, Protection, and Empowerment of Cooperatives and Small and Micro Enterprises.

He also encourages partnerships between large businesses and small and micro businesses through the collaboration between PT Pembangunan Wisata Indonesia (Persero), or the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) as a State-Owned Enterprises through its subsidiary Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA).

“This partnership is in the form of cooperation in marketing aspects of local MSME products to domestic and international markets with the MotoGP brand. This partnership is also carried out in the form of training so that small and micro business actors can make product designs and product quality according to international standards, “said Panutan.

The developer SPTD  Mandalika estimates that it can bring 150,000 to 160,000 tourists during the 2022 Moto GP event. In addition, the World Superbike (WSBK) in November 2021 is also expected to bring in 20,000 tourists.

The two international events are also believed to be able to encourage the production of domestic industries such as the electronics industry, tire manufacturers, the use of security cars, and the use of electric cars used in the circuit and surrounding areas.

“The government is ready to encourage the use of local Production and Domestic Content Levels (PDCL),” said Moeldoko.

On the same occasion, ITDC President Director Abdulbar M. Mansoer said I appreciate the process of the Special Area Road (SAR) project in Mandalika running smoothly and according to plan. I also hope that the construction of the SAR can encourage an economic multiplier effect for the people in Central Lombok, especially the buffer village communities in the Mandalika area.

“In realizing this hope, in addition to building SAR, we have also built 303 Mandalika Bazaar stalls which are intended for MSME actors in Central Lombok,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
