DOMESTIC TOURIST VISITS TO BALI REACHED 50% OF NORMAL CONDITIONS

DOMESTIC tourist visits to Bali currently reach around 8,000 people per day or 50% compared to normal conditions before the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Head of the Bali Tourism Office, I Putu Astawa, Thursday (6/17) in Bali said the number of domestic tourist visits to the Island of the Gods under normal conditions is around 16,000 people per day. Whereas at the beginning of the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, domestic tourist visits were only 2,600-3,000 people.

“Then, after more than a year of being affected by COVID-19, currently, domestic tourist visits to Bali have reached 8,000 people per day. This is assessed because the growing trust of the Indonesian people is starting to grow towards the implementation of the tourism health protocol on this island,” he said.

He explained that the increase in wisdom visits was also influenced by the cooperation of all relevant stakeholders to commit to implementing the process to convince domestic tourists. With the arrival of 8,000 domestic tourists per day, hotel occupancy in Bali can reach 11%.

“This number has the potential to continue to increase with the existence of Work from Bali (WFB) and the plan to open international tourism in July. This open border is also expected to foster the spirit of tourism actors from a long-standing slump,” I Putu Astawa underlined.

“We need an open border for international tourism such as Dubai and the Maldives. Bali also targets foreign tourists to visit busy Christmas and New Year celebrations through the travel bubble. This collaboration is built with countries that are willing to make reciprocal visits and who have a low risk of spreading COVID-19,” he concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
