THE Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy collaborated with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia, Marseille, to hold the Indonesian Festival in Aurons City, which is located in Selon Province, France.
According to the Deputy for Marketing at the Paririsata Ministry, Nia Niscaya in her official statement, Saturday (6/19), said this festival is the first socio-cultural promotion event held by the Indonesian Consulate General in Marseille since the implementation of the second social restriction (reconfinement) starting in the latter half of 2020.
“Various activities promotions that had been scheduled to be postponed or even canceled due to the social distancing status continued to be extended until finally starting to be relaxed (déconfinement) when entering the summer of 2021,” she said.
Nia explained, at the festival, which will be held on June 19 to 26, 2021, visitors will be treated to traditional gamelan music by the Gamelan Bintang Tiga music group who will perform with Indonesian Diaspora child dancers who will perform the Pendet dance from Bali. In addition, there is also a bazaar for handicrafts, coffee, and traditional herbal medicine, as well as Indonesian specialties.
“Then on Sunday (20/6), visitors can also watch a demonstration of cooking Indonesian specialties, such as fried rice and fried noodles,” she informed.
In addition, Nia said that this festival will also be filled with Indonesian Film Week, which will feature videos of Indonesian children’s fairy tales that have been dubbed into French.
“Then at the closing, there will be a seminar on introduction to Indonesian culture by the Education and Culture Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Paris and promotion of Indonesian tourism by the Visit Indonesia Tourism Officer (VITO) France as the tourism marketing representative of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in France, as well as sharing sessions from French citizens who have traveled to Indonesia,” Nia explained.
This festival, Nia continued, is expected to be able to further introduce the diversity of culture and the beauty of Indonesia’s tourist destinations. In addition, through this festival, it is hoped that closer relations between Indonesia and France will be established, not only in the socio-cultural field, but also in the field of economic cooperation and other fields. Meanwhile, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, added that this festival is expected to be a momentum to strengthen Indonesia’s position as the main choice of tourists from France.
