THE province of Bali will become a pilot project in conducting vaccine-based tourism or vaccine-based tourism. This is an effort by the Government to improve the Bali economy, which continues to experience deep contraction due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, again holding a hybrid weekly press briefing. This time the activity was carried out from Balkondes Borobudur, Magelang, on Tuesday (6/22) saying that in the fourth quarter of 2020, Bali was minus 12.21%. Meanwhile, in the second quarter of 2021, Bali is likely to be minus 6-8%.
“So, we have discussed it with the Minister of Health and in that discussion we were assigned to an internal meeting with the President to prepare this vaccination tourism program. Because we have seen milling about vaccine-based tourism offers from several other countries very interestingly,” said Sandiaga.
He explained that and this is the center of attention of the tourists. We want to encourage more vaccinations to be massively distributed. Therefore, we present a vaccine-based tourism program. And Bali was chosen, because currently Bali is in dire need of tourists, due to a very deep economic contraction, but it is possible that other destinations will also be subject to the program.
“Later, the provision of vaccines in this package will be prioritized for domestic tourists, while vaccines for foreign tourists will cooperate with associations that are packaged in an independent vaccine frame so that they will not take a portion of free vaccines for Indonesian citizens. However, it continues to be finalized which will later be launched with the Governor of the Province of Bali,” he continued.
In addition, regarding the opening of Bali tourism, it is still in the finalization stage. Of course, the preparation depends on the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic at home and abroad. The tourism minister said that if conditions were not possible, it would be reviewed.
“The corridor preparation is already at 90% level. Meanwhile, the preparation of charter flights as a trial has also shown significant progress, but pressing the button depends on the latest COVID situation. So, we decided that if the situation is smooth, we will finalize it and if it has not, of course we will adjust it,” he concluded.
However, when asked about the work from destination policy, of course it adjusts to the micro-scale
implementation of restrictions on community activities frame. If the work from destination destination includes the yellow zone, then it is allowed, but if the red zone is of course it is recommended to avoid it.
“In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is preparing programs or policies to anticipate if the lock down is again implemented. We will boost intervention programs such as tourism and creative economy grants, social assistance, incentive assistance, capital assistance, liquidity assistance, and national economic recovery funds in order to help the tourism and creative economy sectors to survive,” he concluded.
