INDONESIA’S PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) or State Electricity Company has developed tourism villages spread across 104 locations in Indonesia through the Social and Environmental Responsibility Program with an aid value of IDR24.4 billion.
According to PLN’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Communications and CSR, Agung Murdifi said the tourism village program aims to support the government in developing tourism and improving village-based community economy.
“The tourism village development program based on sustainable community empowerment continues to make real efforts to form village economic independence with the potential it has for achieving sustainable development goals,” Agung said in his statement in Jakarta, Sunday (6/27)
He explained that one of the leading tourism villages fostered by PLN is the Joint Integrated Educational Tour (WET) located in Mojokerto, East Java. The location not only presents natural beauty but also various integrated educational tours that visitors can enjoy, such as outbound tourism areas to agricultural tourism.
The development of the Sengi tourist village by PLN focuses on infrastructure development, empowerment, and community welfare so that it can transform like an educational tour with environmental and cultural insight that brings increased economic welfare for residents.
The PLN tourism village program is spread across a number of areas, including Bangka Belitung, Lampung, West Java, Banten, Central Java, East Java, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, to East Kalimantan.
Agung further added that the company will continue to be committed to helping improve the community’s economy directly with a synergy program for developing village independence.
“It is hoped that the program will help preserve the environment and culture, as well as improve the welfare of the people in villages scattered throughout Indonesia,” Agung concluded. [antaranews/photo special]
