NUMBER OF PASSENGERS AT LOMBOK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PLUNGED 70%

THE Emergency implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) that applies in Java and Bali has the impact of dropping the number of passengers at Lombok International Airport by up to 70%.

Data from Angkasa Pura I Lombok noted that since the implementation of the Emergency PPKM in the transportation sector on Monday (7/5), the number of passengers decreased by 70% or 871 people compared to before the Java Bali Emergency PPKM took effect.

According to Lombok Airport Stakeholder Relations Manager, Arif Haryanto, aircraft movements also decreased by 50 percent or only 16 aircraft movements during the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM, compared to before the Emergency PPKM reached 32%.

“There has been a decrease in the number of passengers and aircraft movements since the Java-Bali Emergency PPKM was implemented. Strict travel conditions are a factor in the decline in the number of passengers,” Arif said.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, flights from urban cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya dominated travel at Lombok Airport, including the largest domestic tourists coming to Lombok from the island of Java.

Since the Emergency PPKM is in effect, the requirements to NTB for passengers from Java and Bali must bring a vaccine certificate and PCR swab test results, while the rapid antigen test and GeNose test do not apply.

Data from the Central Statistics Agency of NTB stated that the number of passengers arriving via domestic flights in May 2021 was 49,915 people, a decrease of 19.52% compared to April 2021 (MoM), while international flights in May 2021 were non-existent or down one hundred percent.
