CASES of COVID-19 in all regions of Indonesia have continued to decline since last week. Even the hospital occupancy rate or bed occupancy rate (BOR) is increasing along with the increasing recovery rate of COVID-19 patients.
Even so, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno hopes that all parties will not fall back into complacency. The application of strict and disciplined health protocols must become a new habit for the community. The collaboration of all parties is also very much needed to end the COVID-19 pandemic.
“In the struggle to deal with COVID-19, we must unite and today the collaboration from the business world, the government accepts assistance,” said Sandiaga Uno accompanied with the Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin on Wednesday (8/4).
“We hope that it can be immediately distributed to people in need. Assistance from the business world is very much needed in handling COVID-19 considering that the recovery of the tourism sector and the creative economy entirely relies on the health sector,” he said.
Sandiaga explained that some time ago there were pictures of people waiting in line for oxygen, we want to change that. The hospital occupancy rate is below 60% and the ICU is below 80%, this will continue to decline, hopefully with our discipline in implementing of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) Level-4.
He further explained, the tourism sector will rise if the people are healthy. Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy continues to boost vaccinations in all tourist destinations and creative economy centers throughout the archipelago.
“I target that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy can distribute as many as 34,000 to 40,000 doses of vaccine to the public. As we know from Aceh to Papua, tourist destinations and tourist villages are currently competing, participating and God willing, the vaccine supply has arrived and hopefully it can be distributed soon,” Sandiaga Uno remarked.
However, Sandiaga Uno also asked all tourism and creative economy business players to remain optimistic and enthusiastic. Because, along with the recovery of the health sector, he is convinced that Indonesia will welcome a new era of tourism that is more quality and sustainable in the future.
“Indeed, at this time the Creative Economy Agency is in a state of concern, but that is precisely where the best sides of our humanity, mutual cooperation, have been born. As the Minister of Health said, ‘A reliable seafarer is not born from a calm sea, but is born from a turbulent sea,” Sandiaga noted.
He concluded that we hope that our tourism and creative economy can get through this pandemic and God willing, we will have better, quality and sustainable tourism. [traveltext.id/photo special]
