MINISTER of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that the culinary sub-sector is the largest contributor to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the creative economy. Based on data, the culinary sub-sector contributed IDR455.44 trillion or around 41% of the total creative economy GDP of 1,134.9 trillion in 2020.
“And this is the sub-sector that also absorbs the most workers. Culinary absorbs 9.5 million workers and the big impact in the culinary sector is felt in all areas of the Indonesian economy,” said Sandiaga.
Sandiaga explained the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy strongly supports the launch of the Proud Made Indonesia national movement program, in which this activity has helped MSMEs to enter digital platforms or on boarding.
Furthermore, Sandiaga explained that throughout 2020, there were 3.7 million MSMEs on board so that a total of 11.7 MSMEs had transformed into the digital realm, from the previous only 8 million MSMEs. This figure has met a third of the target of 30 million Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
“If it reaches 30 million, there will be consolidation where the number of our 64 million MSMEs will have a greater impact on our economy, maybe consolidated in terms of numbers, but in terms of value it will increase significantly,” said Sandiaga.
Meanwhile, during the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM), many people turned to online shopping to meet their daily needs or just look for food.
According to Sandiaga, this shift to the digital realm has made online shopping an unstoppable place. Even based on Bank Indonesia’s transaction records, online shopping increased by 64% in the first half of 2021.
“This was also recorded by BI, the value of e-Commerce transactions in semester 1 2021 increased by 64% to approximately IDR186.7 trillion. In addition, we have data from several internet service providers and large companies such as Google which recorded contributions The digital economy on Indonesia’s economic growth has reached US$44 billion, an increase of 11% year on year in 2020 and in 2025 it will soar to reach US$125 billion,” he continued.
Sandiaga hopes that in the future there can be greater collaboration with many parties, not only for the creative economy but also for tourism. I pray and hope that in the future our cooperation can be sustainable and will be followed by other collaborations not only for the creative economy sector but also the tourism sector. [traveltext.id]
