THREE TOURISM & CREATIVE ECONOMY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS IN LAKE TOBA

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy appreciates the fast movement of the Lake Toba Authority Implementing Body (BPODT) in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, in presenting three sustainable programs, so that the benefits can be felt by tourism and creative actors and the community in Lake Toba, North Sumatra.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, the three programs include a recycling-based craft creative economy development workshop held at the Jetun Silangit Siborongborong HKBP Youth Village, North Tapanuli. Then, softlaunching the signature bobocabin at Toba Caldera Resort, and a mass vaccination program in collaboration with the Bukit Barisan Military Command I, North Sumatra.

“As we all know, the direction from the President is that Lake Toba must be prepared as one of the super priority destinations and Lake Toba is part of the UNESCO Global Geopark. That’s why we collaborate to deliver programs that are right on target and with the right benefits. Work on all the potential, so that Lake Toba becomes a quality super priority destination, awakens our economy, and opens up the widest possible employment opportunities,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga, in his remarks online.

“I hope that the activities that we do do not stop here, but continue to roll like a snowball. Let’s unite against the pandemic, spread optimism, keep the spirit, always take care of your health, and apply health protocols strictly and with discipline,” he said.

On that occasion, the President Director of BPODT, Jimmy Panjaitan, represented by Bambang Cahyo, expressed his gratitude to all parties involved in the success of these three programs.

Meanwhile, Ephorus HKBP, Pdt. Dr. Robinson Butarbutar said that the recycling-based craft creative economy development workshop which will be held for two months from August 6 to October 6, 2021, can improve the skills and skills of human resources in the HKBP Youth Village.

“Hopefully this program can become a sustainable program, so that young people in this village are not only able to hone their creativity, but are also able to generate profits from the products produced,” he said.

Likewise, President Director of PT. Bobobox Mitra Terpadu, Indra Gunawan, said that his party was very proud to have been trusted and became a collaborating partner with the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and BPODT, to launch the bobocabin signature on Lake Toba. He hopes that new products that combine nature and technology can be a solution for tourists as new tourist destinations.

“This is one of the innovative steps we can take in the midst of a pandemic. And, we hope that in the future there will be more initiatives that we can do as a solution to the recovery of the tourism economy in Indonesia,” said Indra.

Meanwhile, the Commander of the Bukit Barisan Regional Military Command I, Maj. Gen. Hassanudin, stated that his party strongly supports the acceleration of the vaccination program in all regions in Indonesia, especially North Sumatra.
