ALTHOUGH JAVA-BALI PPKM IS EXTENDED, THE MALL WILL BEGIN TO OPEN GRADUALLY

INDONESIA’S Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investments as well as the Java-Bali Implementation of Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) Coordinator, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the government would trial the opening of shopping centers or malls in stages in line with the start of the extension of the PPKM on Tuesday (8/10).

“The government will conduct a trial of gradual (gradual) opening for malls/shopping centers in areas with level 4 by paying attention to the implementation of health protocols,” he said in a virtual press conference, Monday night (8/9).

Luhut explained that in the PPKM extension option which will be carried out starting August 10 tomorrow, there are two road maps that have adjustments and will be tested, namely the shopping/malls sector and export-based essential industries or their supports.

There will also be trials of opening shopping centers/malls in the cities of Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya and Semarang with a capacity of 25% over the next week.

“Only those who have been vaccinated, I repeat, only those who have been vaccinated can enter the mall and must use the Peduli Protect application. Children under 12 years old and over 70 years old will be prohibited from entering malls/shopping centers temporarily,” he insisted.

In addition, for export-based essential industries, this week a health protocol standard operation procedure (SOP) will be prepared so that starting August 17, 2021, it can be operated in several cities at other level 4. Thus, 100% of staff can attend with a minimum division of two shifts.

The government again decided to extend PPKM levels 4, 3 and 2 in the Java-Bali region on August 10-16, 2021. The extension of PPKM in the Java-Bali region was decided to maintain positive momentum due to the implementation of the extension of PPKM levels 4, 3 and 2 which has been carried out since 2 -9 August in the region showed quite encouraging results.
