THE DIGITAL ACCELERATION PROGRAM FOR CREATIVE ECONOMY PLAYERS IS RESUME

INDONESIA’S Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy stated that it would continue and accelerate the digital acceleration program for creative economy players.

According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, this was done as a quick response to President Joko Widodo’s direction when submitting the Bill on the State Budget for Fiscal Year 2022 and Financial Notes at the DPR-RI Plenary Meeting for Session Year 2021-2022, at the MPR/DPR Building, Jakarta, Monday (8/16).

The President assessed that the COVID-19 pandemic that had hit since the beginning of 2020 had become one of the factors that accelerated the digitization of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) players, especially in the creative economy sector. The President said that the COVID-19 pandemic forced changes in all lines of Indonesian people’s lives. One of them is the use of digital platforms as a form of innovation in distributing and promoting the products of creative economy actors.

“The number of MSMEs entering digital platforms continues to grow. As of August, more than 14 million MSMEs or 22% of the total MSMEs have joined the e-commerce application,” said the President.

The participation of MSMEs in the digital economy, continued the President, is very important because the potential of the digital economy in Indonesia is very large. In 2020, the value of Indonesia’s digital trade transactions reached more than Rp. 253 trillion and is expected to increase to IDR330.7 trillion in 2021.

“(The digitalization of creative economy SMEs) also makes it easier for SMEs to enter the global supply chain,” he said.

Responding to this, Minister Sandiaga Uno said the digitalization of creative economy players must be supported by the implementation of concrete programs, including ‘Proud Made in Indonesia’, which was carried out collaboratively by relevant ministries and institutions. ‘Proud to be Made in Indonesia’ has a target of digitizing 30 million MSME players before 2023.

Sandiaga revealed that Tourism Ministry also continues to encourage creative economy players to utilize digital platforms in conducting commercial activities, ranging from promotion, distribution, to product transactions. So that tourism and creative economy players can become pandemic winners by staying afloat and creating job opportunities for our community, especially those related to transformation towards digitalization.

In addition, Sandiaga continued, the government also has a Buy Local Creative or Beli Kreatif Lokal program that has been implemented in the Lake Toba super priority destination (DSP) area entitled ‘#BeliKreatifDanauToba’ which will be held from February to June 2021 and will be implemented in other areas. This program succeeded in increasing the sales of participating MSMEs by three times and increasing digitization by 170%. [traveltext.id]
