THE Papandayan Jazz Fest (TPJF), one of Indonesia’s iconic jazz music programs that is always held regularly at The Papandayan Bandung, is back this year. Was vacuumed in 2020 due to the pandemic, now TPJF, which has a track record of slick performances, is ready to come online in December 2021 through the Loket.com platform, to fill the longing of jazz music lovers to watch musical acrobatics live performances of Indonesian and foreign jazz musicians.
TPJF 2021 which carries the theme ‘Jazz Enjoy It’ will be a moment of celebration and a ‘melting pot’ for musicians and jazz enthusiasts who are not only in Bandung, Jakarta and its surroundings, but will also reach a wider audience and involve more varied musicians.
In addition to the country’s leading musicians and bands, this festival is also enlivened by bands that are the result of a tight selection by a team of competent judges TP Jazz – International Jazz Competition
The International Jazz Competition is a jazz band competition that is held virtually using the Zoom conference platform and social media to find new jazz talents and help introduce new Indonesian jazz musicians.
This competition is a series of Road to TPJF 2021 events consisting of 3 rounds, namely the preliminary, semifinal and grand final. In this final round, the best 4 bands will be selected (1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Favorite Champion) which will be announced at TPJF 2021 in December.
Currently, registration for the International Jazz Competition is open until September 27, 2021. For the participant selection process, TP Jazz Management invited world-class jazz musician, Ben Van Gelder. Among the ranks of the jury were Dwiki Dharmawan, Eq Puradireja, Venche Manuhutu and senior Bandung artist, Hari Pochang.
