INDONESIA GOVERNMENT AGAIN EXTENDS MALL OPERATIONS UNTIL 21:00 PM

THE INDONESIA government has relaxed the operating rules for malls which were previously open until 20.00 pm to 21.00 pm during the implementation of the level-based implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) policy which will take effect from 31 August to 6 September 2021.

According to the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan at a press conference in Jakarta, Monday night (8/30) said the government has also adjusted the capacity of consumers who eat in or dine-in malls to 25%. The dine-in capacity in the mall was adjusted to 50 percent and the mall’s operating hours were extended to 21.00.

Minister Luhut said that the decline in positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia, which was more than 90%, made the economy recover quickly.

According to him, the rapid economic recovery is reflected in the Mandiri Institute survey which shows an increase in the learning index and visits by residents to shopping centers on the islands of Java to Bali.

In addition to adjusting the dine-in capacity and operating hours of malls, the government will conduct trials of 1,000 restaurant outlets outside the mall and in closed spaces to be able to operate with a consumer capacity of 25% of the total seating. The relaxation trials will take place in Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang and Surabaya.

Meanwhile, in terms of industry and factories, the government now allows industries and factories that are oriented to non-essential domestic and essential exports to operate 100%.

The company must divide the working hours of the staff into at least two shifts and obtain a recommendation from the Ministry of Industry to use the QR Code for the PeduliLindung application. “For the time being, critical (companies) will be required to use the QR Code PeduliLindung starting September 7 next week,” concluded Luhut.
