THE UNIVERSAL Studios Beijing theme park, or Universal Beijing Resort, will officially open on September 20, according to a statement from the management.
The Park is a joint venture between Comcast Corp’s Universal Parks & Resorts and China’s state-owned Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment, and will start trial operations on Sept. 1.
Universal Studios announced the development of its fifth Universal Studios-branded resort and theme park in the world – in 2014, saying at the time it would cost US$3.3 billion. Its opening date has been postponed for several months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
In addition to rides, shows and attractions, hotels, and retail, dining and entertainment complexes, the theme parks will include experiences designed to reflect China’s cultural heritage, Universal said.
Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment is owned by five state-owned enterprises in Beijing, including the Beijing Tourism Group, one of the country’s largest tourism companies, according to the park’s website. [antaranews/photo special]
