According to Philippines Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement quoted by Reuters said that the ban, which was implemented since April 2021 and then expanded to more countries in July, was to prevent the spread of the more contagious Delta variant of COVID-19. The rule will be officially revoked on Monday (9/6).
Later, travelers from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia will have to spend 14 days in quarantine upon arrival. [antaranews/photo special]
