PREPARATIONS for the trial implementation of the opening of Bali for foreign tourists continue to be carried out by the government together with related parties.
According to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno in the Weekly Press Briefing which took place in a hybrid manner from the Sapta Pesona Building, Monday (9/27) said various things and data obtained by his party in a coordination meeting with all Bali tourism stakeholders this weekend. then it will be presented at the ministerial level coordination meeting this week.
“Bali is increasingly showing progress in its preparedness and handling of COVID-19, showing a positive trend. The materials we received in last week’s coordination meeting and our direct monitoring in various locations will be raised in this week’s ministerial coordination meeting which we hope will be led by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs. and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. The results will be taken into consideration by the leadership in making decisions,” said Sandiaga.
The trial for the reopening of Bali, he continued, for foreign tourists will be carried out in a gradual, multilevel, and sustainable concept. In gas and brake frame or sand box with data-based policy adaptation. Therefore, there will be strict requirements that will be applied together with all ministries/agencies, local governments, and industry.
Among them, trials will be carried out on tourists who have received complete vaccines from countries where the domestic COVID-19 situation is conducive. They are also required to follow the pattern set by the government such as PCR testing before and upon arrival at the destination. After that, the implementation of the Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE)-based health protocol is strictly and end-to-end discipline.
“This will of course also be equipped with health insurance and the readiness of our health facilities in handling foreign tourists so that they really get a good experience and impression. We minimize the potential that poses risks, especially with the new variant of COVID-19,” Sandiaga remarked.
Communication with the countries of origin of foreign tourists is also prepared by the government. So far, there have been talks with several countries. Like South Korea, and other Asian countries. Also, Middle Eastern and European countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, and others.
“We have had discussions, and the pilot concept will later become one of the options with charter flights. However, we ask you to be patient, after the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has determined, we are ready with a pattern of visits and tour packages that are suitable for tourists coming from various countries,” Sandiaga pointed out.
He explained that apart from Bali, Batam and Bintan are also being prepared for this trial. “We have to really ensure the readiness of this destination so that later tourists feel safe and comfortable so that tourism will rise and move the economy by opening up jobs again.
Regarding the response from the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) regarding the CHSE certification, Minister Sandiaga said he had assigned expert staff in his ranks to communicate and discuss further the aspirations expressed.
“PHRI is the main partner of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, so it is important that there is an understanding on the standardization of health protocols summarized in the CHSE which will be integrated into the PeduliLindungi application as the gold standard. Therefore, together, it must be adhered to and implemented in a strict and disciplined manner in destinations and creative economy centers,” he said.
Regarding the pilot application of health protocols and the use of the PeduliLindungi application for tourist attractions, Sandiaga explained that the application is increasingly being distributed to more destinations. It is planned that the trial will be expanded to a stage II tourist/recreation park. Likewise with trials for restaurants, restaurants, and cafes. The phase II trials are for regions/cities with level III.
“However, there are still some notes in the implementation of the trial, which include signal problems, failed logins, and others. We get a lot of input that can be used to improve this application,” he concluded.
